Housing

The Housing Department has been able to shift focus in recent years away from crisis management as the island’s housing ‘problem’ has, to a degree, settled down. It operates through a Housing Strategy and Corporate Housing Programme to meet identified housing needs, established through initial surveys at the turn of the decade and kept updated.

The provision and management of the States ‘social’ housing estate remains a core function, now matched in terms of development by facilitating and supporting the development of the States Housing Association to provide affordable social housing to meet the needs of the intermediate housing market.
