Retail

The retail industry in Guernsey is varied from traditional retailers to innovative etailers.

The main retail centre is in St Peter Port and major shopping areas include The High Street, Arcade, Smith Street and Pollet areas although the "Old quarter" beyond the market and up through to Mill Street has an interesting variety of clothes and antique type shops along with galleries and unique food shops.

In addition to many locally run family businesses, many of the large UK chain stores can be found on the island including M&S, HMV, Woolworths, and Boots. In some cases the full UK price is charged to cover the high freight costs to the island. However, there is no V.A.T on goods sold in Guernsey so generally prices are still cheaper than in the UK.

Guernsey has a handful retails parks, large supermarket and many specialist stores. In the north of the island at St Sampson's, The Bridge is the island's second mini shopping.
