Guernsey Retail Study consultation
The Commerce and Employment Department has received 7 submissions in response to its consultation process on the Guernsey Retail Study undertaken by Roger Tym and Partners.
A spokesman from the Department commented:
“Responses have been received from range of bodies including retailers and retail groups and organisations representing interest groups. Some of the responses were very detailed and some also included requests for further meetings.
The Board can’t comment on the responses until it has had an opportunity to consider them in full, but a preliminary assessment shows that they represent a wide range of perspectives on the issue of retailing in Guernsey and very differing views about the approach they would like to see adopted. This is as expected and is healthy, demonstrating the breadth of interest in the subject.
Along with the Environment Department, Commerce and Employment will be examining and reviewing the submissions and in due course responding directly to those who have taken part in the consultation. We also need to get the views of Tym and partners on comments made about the detail and conclusions of the Study.
Following this process Commerce and Employment may comment on the responses but will certainly announce how it intends to proceed on the development of a Retail Strategy.”
