PKF appoints audit director to Guernsey team

PKF (Guernsey) Limited has appointed Stuart Phillips as audit director within its Guernsey operation.

He joins with a wealth of international experience of the emerging markets and real estate sectors, having spent a number of years in Russia and Kazakhstan and the USA.

Mr Phillips joined PKF (Guernsey) Limited at the beginning of 2010 and will be responsible for a number of the firm’s audit clients; in addition to fulfilling this role he will help promote the Praxis Group within the emerging markets.

Mr Phillips studied Finance at the University of Birmingham and completed his Chartered Accountancy training (ICAEW) in Liverpool. Following this he was based in Kazakhstan for four years, before the country began opening up to international trading. From there he moved to Seattle and gained an American Certified Accountancy qualification (CPA) before transferring to Moscow.

After five years and rising to partner at Deloitte’s in Moscow, Mr Phillips moved to Guernsey and joined Ernst & Young as partner, where he focused primarily on the asset management, real estate and emerging market sectors.

Mr Phillips recently completed the Islamic Finance Qualification and STEP Foundation course and holds the MCSI, which denotes a high level of achievement and competence within the finance sector.

Simon Thornton, director at PKF (Guernsey) Limited said that Stuart’s years of international experience in a number of locations will strengthen the team at PKF.

Opportunities within the emerging markets arena look set to continue and Stuart’s extensive knowledge and understanding of this area will be invaluable.’
